BIO
Quoc Bui is a second-year student at Columbia University interested in visual arts. Growing up in Hanoi, Vietnam, studying at Interlochen, MI, and staying in Fargo, ND with his aunt and cousins in recent years, he is grateful to see elements surrounding him in refreshing lights. With both of his parents being architects, he is grateful to be exposed to a plethora of visual resources, shaping the way he views the world from an early age. Studying abroad at the age of fourteen, every time he visits Hanoi, he thinks a lot about how growth and age change his responsibility both to his family and the once so-familiar landscape. The City of New York has been allowing him to revisit his identity, what it means to be a citizen, and uncovered many of the experiences that he has forgotten. The bustling energy reminds him very much of home. In general, he finds joy through art, music and food, and is excited about the future. Some of his favorite artists are Nick Cave, Ann Hamilton, Suzanne Lacy, and Maya Lin.
